Research

Gender studies assume a multidisciplinary and transversal character and involve various disciplines that may differ in their approaches to and understanding of "gender". In different disciplines the concept of gender is defined in several ways and has diverse epistemological functions which guide the processes of knowledge in these research areas.

The scope of the Gosh project is to study the ways in which both humanistic and techno-scientific disciplines contribute to the construction of gender. Adopting a comparative approach, it aims to investigate differences and similarities among the various definitions of gender and the implications that the use of gender categories has on the disciplines themselves, their methods, purposes, language, topics and interpretations of results.

A series of research seminars with experts and scholars from the various disciplines are being organized in order to focus on the relationship between gender category and specific research areas and to promote collaboration and exchanges between scholars from diverse approaches dealing with the topic.
